Adult Cor Triatriatum Sinistrum as an Unusual Cause of Embolic Stroke
ثبت نشده
چکیده
Cor Triatriatum Sinistrum is a congenital anomaly in which the left atrium is divided into 2 parts by a fold of tissue, a membrane, or a fibromuscular band. Classically, the proximal (upper or superior) portion of the left atrium receives the venous blood, whereas the distal (lower or inferior) portion is in contact with the atrioventricular valve and contains the atrial appendage and the true atrial septum that bears the fossa ovalis. The anomaly is almost always diagnosed in early childhood. The hemodynamics of the Cor Triatriatum are similar to that of mitral stenosis and the most common presenting symptoms in adults are dyspnea, hemoptysis and orthopnea as a result of the obstruction to blood flow.

Cor Triatriatum Sinistrum Presenting as Cyanotic Congenital Heart Disease A Rare Case Report
Cor triatriatum is an acyanotic congenital heart disease. We present a rare case of cor triatriatum sinistrum in a 6-month-old female infant who was presented with cyanosis and failure to thrive. The 2D transthoracic echocardiography and the Doppler color flow imaging showed a proximal venous chamber communicating to the distal left atrium through restrictive opening to the low-pressure, dis...
متن کاملAdult cor triatriatum sinistrum: a rare cause of ischaemic stroke
A 55-year-old male was referred to the cardiologist because of the occurrence of two ischaemic strokes within five months’ time in the absence of documented atrial fibrillation. At echocardiography, a membrane was visualised in the left atrium (cor triatriatum) (Fig. 1a). Since no other abnormalities were detected, the cor triatriatum was held responsible for the cardioembolic stroke. Surgical ...
متن کاملHemolytic anemia: an unusual presentation of cor triatriatum sinistrum.
Cor triatriatum is a congenital malformation of the heart which is usually presented with heart failure. We have dealt with an unusual presentation of a two-month-old child with cor triatriatum presented with hemolytic anemia.
متن کاملPulmonary-Esophageal Variceal Bleeding: A Unique Presentation of Partial Cor Triatriatum Sinistrum
Cor triatriatum sinistrum is a rare congenital disorder defined as a division of the left atrium by a diaphragmatic membrane resulting in two left atrial chambers. The membranous division of the atrium can be partial or complete and can affect either atrium, with involvement of the right atrium referred to as cor triatriatum dexter. The presence of fenestrations within the membrane allows for c...
متن کاملFocused Cardiac Ultrasound Diagnosis of Cor Triatriatum Sinistrum in Pediatric Cardiac Arrest
Cardiac arrest in the adolescent population secondary to congenital heart disease (CHD) is rare. Focused cardiac ultrasound (FoCUS) in the emergency department (ED) can yield important clinical information, aid in resuscitative efforts during cardiac arrest and is commonly integrated into the evaluation of patients with pulseless electrical activity (PEA). We report a case of pediatric cardiac ...
